Band Bash 2015 - September 12
Band Bash 2015 is just around the corner. Nine of the areas best marching bands will converge on Stewart Field to put on a performance that is sure to be memorable.
Shirts will be sold before and after band rehearsals until August 26. T-shirt will be royal blue with white and yellow printing. The front of the shirt reads "Halftime is OUR TIME." The back of the shirt will read "Solon Band Bash 2015" and will list all participating bands. DEADLINE FOR TSHIRT ORDERS IS AUGUST 26.
Have fun and create a great keepsake by placing an ad for your favorite band member or Starlette in this year's Band Bash program. It's a great chance to SHOUT to your kids! DEADLINE FOR SHOUT OUT ADS IS THURSDAY, AUGUST 13, 2014.
Know a business that would be interested in advertising in the 2015 Band Bash program? Proceeds from Band Bash support the Solon High School Band and Orchestra students in raising funds for a spring 2016 trip to Florida. The SHS Band and Orchestra only travels once every FOUR years. Hi Marching Band Parents,
And... we're off! This will be a busy two weeks for our kids! Here is the schedule for the next two weeks:
- July 20-24 - Drum line rehearsal from 9-3
- July 21 - Leader Meeting from 10-noon
- July 22-23 - Rehearsal for Leaders and New Marchers from 9-noon
- July 23 - Shoe and uniform fittings at noon (only students who have not already been fitted need to report)
- July 24 - Rehearsal for all Band Members from 9-noon
- July 25 - Home Days parade
- July 26-31 - Band Camp – Buses depart from the Band Room at 11 AM on July 26. Students should bring a packed lunch and drink for lunch on Sunday. All other meals are provided.
- July 31 – About 4:30ish – Band Camp Show and Fair
Make sure your students have refillable water bottles with them for rehearsals this week. It's gonna be hot!!!
When the students return from camp, they are truly a full-fledged Marching Band! No words can describe the amazement a first-time band parent feels when their child gets off the bus, marches onto the field, and puts on their first demonstration half-time show as a member of the Solon High School Marching Band. You won't want to miss it! Keep the late afternoon flexible – campers are expected to return around 4:30, but we'll keep you updated on the precise time based on the actual departure time from Walsh University. They may arrive slightly earlier or later. We'll also hold a mini-fair that afternoon so you can browse displays, order spirit wear, purchase car magnets, and volunteer for concessions and the many other volunteer opportunities we have to offer.
Remember to keep those band camp packets handy while your kids are packing for band camp. Susan Shomette (Band Camp coordinator) and I will provide reminders and helpful hints as the week progresses, but there is much more useful information in the band camp packet.
Your students may get more specific information about the Home Days parade and Band Camp from the directors during the week.
